andBeyond’s Limited Edition Set-Departure Itineraries Celebrating its 30thAnniversary

Conservation-led luxury travel company andBeyond is marking its 30th birthday by highlighting its pioneering business model, based on its ethos of Care of the Land, Care of the Wildlife and Care of the People. Built on a foundation that seeks to make conservation sustainable through providing exceptional experiences for its guests, the company has dedicated three decades to its vision of leaving the world a better place. Having exported its model of responsible travel to three continents, beginning in Africa and gradually expanding to cover parts of Asia and South America, andBeyond has launched a series of limited edition itineraries ranging from following the largest sardine migration off the coast of East Africa to birding in Sri Lanka to a teen-focused sustainability trip in Botswana’s Okavango Delta. These small set departure trips highlight the company’s conservation successes and achievements, seeking to promote greater awareness of sustainable travel by involving even more of its guests in incredible travel experiences that contribute towards environmental awareness and protection.
Conservation-focused
- Marine Predator Tagging Expedition: Guests join a team of marine conservationists and head out into Mozambique’s pristine waters in search of its apex predators and help tag Giant Trevally and Grey Reef Sharks.

- A Project Tiger Expedition: The 16-day journey takes guests to three national parks set up under this project, Ranthambhore National Park, Kanha National Park, and Kaziranga National Park.

- Care of Botswana’s Okavango Delta, its Wildlife and People: This privately-guided, nine-day itinerary for just four guests reveals the sanctity of water and how significant it is for the sustainability of the wildlife, communities and landscapes in the Chobe National Park and the world-renowned Okavango Delta.

- Africa’s Greatest Marine Migration: A bucket list adventure for any diver, this expedition lets guests dive into the annual Sardine migration, the greatest shoal on earth (followed by predatory game fish, sharks, whales and giant pods of dolphin) followed by a Big Five safari.

- Our Impact Journey into South America: A 14-day impact journey exploring pioneering wildlife conservation projects aimed at protecting jaguars and pumas hosted by Les Carlisle, andBeyond’s Group Conservation Legend.
- October 16-19, 2022
- Return of the Lion Expedition: This 10-day itinerary follows in the footsteps of five lions translocated from South Africa to Rwanda, to reverse a local extinction, and is hosted by Simon Naylor, Conservation Manager at andBeyond Phinda Private Game Reserve, and Drew Bantlin, Conservation and Research Manager at Akagera National Park.

Birding
Each of these set departure itineraries travels in groups of ten to twelve people, is accompanied by a specialist birding guide, and was created to appeal to both birders and non-birders. In addition, guests benefit from the opportunity to choose their favorite SWAROVSKI OPTIK binoculars from a selection of three of their latest models to use on the trip.
- Beyond Average Birding in South Africa combines the cosmopolitan and scenic attractions of Cape Town with Big Five safari in KwaZulu-Natal, all while exploring some of the country’s best known birding destinations.
- Departing in November 2022
- Beyond Average Birding in Ecuador: This 10-night itinerary travels from the depths of the Amazon to the renowned Galápagos Islands.
- Departing February 2023
- Beyond Average Birding in Sri Lanka: This 10-night itinerary explores a range of ideal birding destinations including mangroves, wetlands, highlands, and lowlands.
- Departing February 2023
- Beyond Average Birding in Bhutan: This itinerary seeks out a diversity of Himalayan bird species while offering an array of cultural, spiritual and wellness activities. A variety of walking trails offer opportunities for birding in Bhutan’s lush valleys, across its mountain passes and along the banks of its rivers.
- Departing March 2023
- Beyond Average Birding in Botswana: This eight-night journey ventures from the Chobe River to the famed Okavango Delta, a paradise for birdwatchers two watery destinations, both attracting a wealth of both resident and migrant bird species.

Meant for teens: Eco-Guide Challenges
What makes these itineraries a “challenge” is that all of the teens will be challenged, as andBeyond’s guides are, on what they have learned while out on excursions, earning certificates and prizes that will be handed out at a festive ceremony dinner at the end of the trip. These excursions are a call to all aspiring conservationists, planet warriors, budding rangers, or any teen who loves the wilderness and its creatures and wants to leave the world a better place.
- South Africa: This four-night set itinerary takes place at andBeyond Phinda Private Game Reserve and includes a rhino and pangolin conservation experiences, bush walks, astronomy lessons, and ranger training.
- Dates: October 18-22, 2022 and March 6-10, 2023
- Botswana: This four-night itinerary takes place at andBeyond Xaranna Okavango Delta Camp and includes game drives, bushman skills, wild dog research, and a sustainability audit.
- Dates: October 22-26, 2022
- Mozambique: This marine-conservation focused itinerary takes place at andBeyond Benguerra Island and includes an introductory PADI diving course and scuba sessions, diving at 2-Mile Reef to learn about the fragile marine ecosystem, meeting the local community, and sandboarding on the dunes.
- Dates: October 10-14, 2022
- Tanzania: This five-night journey focuses on the Serengeti National Park (after one night in Arusha) and includes game drives through the Serengeti, nature walks, conservation lessons with local children, animal tracking, and a Maasai village visit.
- Dates: March 5-10, 2023
- Chile: This four-night itinerary at andBeyond Vira Vira focuses on conservation and local culture through activities such horseback riding, a catch-and-release fishing competition, rafting, a community visit to learn about the local Mapuche people and a visit to Villarrica National Park for a wildlife photography lesson.
