We’re gearing up our taste buds for a spicy celebration honoring our favorite sinus clearing condiment-Wasabi! Shunbou, Grand Hyatt Tokyo’s Japanese restaurant, will be treating diners to a little (or a lot) of extra heat for a spring Wasabi Fair. Executive chef Josef Budde will be serving a traditional wasabi grown and harvested locally in the river streams of famed wasabi region Okutama. Nothing tastes as good as the real deal, so get yourself a room and a table, and feel free to thank us later.

From now until May 31, 2010 homemade wasabi tofu and wasabi steamed rice will be served alongside dishes made to temper the heat, like marbled tuna and charcoal grilled Hida beef with seasoned vegetables. Shunbou’s resident sake sommelier Atsushi Sato will be on hand to recommend the proper sake pairing to best wash it all down. Kanpai!
