Artfarm | The Fife Arms

Global • Europe (U.K. & Switzerland); U.S. (NYC, LA & Washington, D.C.)

Artfarm is a hospitality group known for its art- and design-forward hotels and culinary venues, all of which showcase a meaningful interweaving of culture, lifestyle and community. It was launched in 2014 by Iwan and Manuela Wirth, co-founders of internationally renowned gallery Hauser & Wirth. Today, the growing portfolio, headed by CEO Bee Emmott, spans vibrant city addresses, including The Audley Public House and Mount St. Restaurant in London, Manuela in both New York City and Los Angeles, and dreamy destinations like the Scottish Highlands (home of boutique luxury hotel The Fife Arms), Spain’s Menorca, and England’s Somerset. In 2025, Artfarm opened a branch of its sustainability-focused Fish Shop in Washington, D.C.; and in early 2026, a second boutique hotel, Chesa Marchetta, opened in Switzerland.  Each of Artfarm’s projects— fourteen and counting — come to life in response to the specific local culture and customs of its site; no two are alike.

About The Fife Arms | Scottish Highlands, Scotland

Located in the charming Aberdeenshire village of Braemar, a two-hour drive from Edinburgh, The Fife Arms is a gloriously reimagined 19th-century Victorian coaching inn with a museum-worthy art collection and interiors that celebrate exquisite local craftsmanship. The hotel has 46 rooms and suites, all individually decorated and with their own stories to tell. A riot of colors, fabrics and patterns abounds, creating an inspired look that mixes maximalist wallpaper with precious antiques and Victorian textiles. Guests have their pick of immersive activities and events, no matter the season, plus access to an expert Highlands guide (known as “Ghillie”) who can make recommendations and lead visitors on a variety of adventures.

About Chesa Marchetta | Sils Maria (Engadin Valley), Switzerland

Chesa Marchetta is the newest arrival — and only the second hotel — of the Artfarm portfolio. Owners Iwan and Manuela Wirth (of internationally renowned gallery Hauser & Wirth) have called the boutique property in the village of Sils Maria their most personal project to date. Merging four historic buildings into a 13-bedroom hotel, a 46-cover restaurant and an Alpine-cozy lounge bar took four years of thoughtful renovation. Paris-based architecture firm Laplace retained the Engadin’s own unique design language, from restoring Chesa Marchetta’s striking façade covered in sgraffito (the geometric patterns found on homes throughout the valley) to creating a veritable hearth in the former barn that also serves as the hotel’s entrance and intimate social hub. Interiors are furnished with traditional Engadin pieces and artwork by local artists and artisans that reflect the history of the hotel and surrounding region.

Some of our Stories

The Fife Arms takes the “art hotel” concept to another level with 16,000 antiques, curios and artworks, including two original pieces by Picasso
Atmospheric and cozy, Bertie’s Whisky Bar (at The Fife Arms) offers more than 500 whiskies that are arranged by flavor profile; bartenders as ‘librarians’ are on hand to answer questions and make suggestions
Each room is uniquely designed, like the whimsical Artist’s Studio, inspired by Bloomsbury artist Duncan Grant, and artful experiences include sketching and writing classes with local artists
At 13-bedroom Chesa Marchetta, opened in 2026, nearly all the materials used throughout are locally sourced, including handpicked antiques and fabrics, and the majority of the wood used throughout is arven (Swiss stone pine), a fragrant high-altitude wood known for its calming properties

Chef Degiovanni spent several months sourcing the best local suppliers throughout the Engadin, as well as the neighboring Italian-speaking valleys to create the hyper- seasonal menu of the restaurant at Chesa Marchetta, which features Swiss mountain and Northern Italian specialties
Sils Maria, where Chesa Marchetta is located, is considered the cultural heart of the Engadin Valley. Friedrich Nietzsche considered it a spiritual refuge, ideal for reflection and creation, and his former home is a stone’s throw from the 13-bedroom boutique hotel
Founded on an ethos of thoughtfully bringing together culture, lifestyle and community, Artfarm is curating an ever-growing portfolio of culinary venues that weave together hyper-seasonal cooking, high-concept art and committed sustainability. They include Cantina, in Menorca, Farm Shop (in London and Somerset), and Mount St. Restaurant, among others
Bi-coastal Manuela — opened in LA’s Arts District in 2016, and in New York City’s Soho in 2024 — are two distinctly cool, art-forward neighborhood restaurants, featuring contemporary-American and dramatic site-specific commissioned pieces, many of them functional elements of the restaurant
As part of sustainability initiatives at large, The Fish Shop restaurant (with branches in Scotland and in Washington, D.C.) offers ethically sourced seafood from Scotland and the British Isles
