Come March, all eyes turn to Ireland. For those who want to celebrate the day by exploring their own Irish heritage, Dromoland Castle’s on-site genealogist Lorna Moloney is available to hold personalized genealogy sessions over Zoom, digging into family records, archival photographs, maps of ancestral land, and a treasure trove of information.

For those who want to do a little digging and then follow up by walking in their forebears’ footsteps, Dromoland Castle is launching a new package that begins with an in-depth session over Zoom with Lorna, followed up with information from Lorna on locations to visit to trace one’s roots, and culminating in a two-night stay at the Castle. The package includes:

  • 2 Nights Bed and Breakfast
  • Zoom call with Resident Genealogist, Lorna Moloney (then use Lorna’s findings to map out your trip in Ireland)
  • One Mrs. White’s Afternoon Tea with Lorna
  • Personal History tour of Dromoland Castle with historian Jane O’Brien
  • To get in the spirit, each guest is greeted with Irish coffee upon arrival.

About Jane O’Brien, in-house historian

A local from Co. Clare and a member of the castle’s ancestral O’Brien lineage, Jane has been running historical walking tours for over fifteen years. Using expert storytelling skills, she reveals the intriguing characters and stories that have shaped the castle through centuries of Irish history. With a Masters in Local History and a PhD underway, she draws on rich historical sources to reveal what life was like for those who lived here, in an entertaining and fascinating celebration of this magnificent castle.
