WHAT’S NEW IN PALM BEACH: WINTER 2021-2022
January 5th, 2022
Why Go
Known as a winter playground for those seeking sunshine and pristine beaches, in Palm Beachthis season it is the rich culture and flourishing art scene that will vie for the spotlight. Beyond the city’s many established and emerging galleries, art enthusiasts should also mark their calendars for the 37th Annual ArtiGras Fine Arts Festival (February 19-20, 2022). Recently named one of the top 70 fine art festivals in the U.S., this event attracts more than 300 artists and tens of thousands of art lovers and collectors. While the acclaimed Norton Museum of Art’s exhibits feature works from perennial favorite Frida Kahlo and The New Yorker’s Saul Steinberg, as well as landscapes by Hassam, Wyeth and other American Masters. There is also a brand-new, state-of-the-art marina which was specifically designed to attract another type of eye-candy, the floating masterpieces called superyachts. The $40 million renovation transformed the old Town Docks into a world-class facility able to accommodate vessels from 60 ft up to 294 ft superyachts. And for those who will be arriving by plane rather than boat, getting there just easier with several new flight options to Palm Beach from hubs across the country. The new service includes nonstops from New Haven (CT), Austin, (TX), Minneapolis (MN), and restored daily flights from New York JFK.
A Perfect Nest For Culture Vultures
Opened just a year ago, White Elephant Palm Beach offers the intimate warmth of a private residence with just 13 rooms and 19 suites spread across four stories housed in the former Bradley Park Hotel – originally constructed in 1924 as one of the first resorts on Palm Beach’s Main Street. In addition to the landmark building and impeccable interior design which breaks from the traditional pink and green Palm Beach aesthetic, what sets this property apart is a museum-worthy collection of 120 original pieces of colorful modern and pop art personally curated by the owners and architect Elkus Manfredi. New this season, hotel guests can take a complimentary educational guided tour of the hotel’s private art collection. The 30-minute experience is available every Saturday at 10:00 am for hotel guests.
The hotel’s new “Soak Up Sun & Culture” package provides guests access to some of the city’s top cultural institutions. In addition to a two-night stay in the one of the hotel’s residential-style guestrooms, the experience includes two tickets to: the Flagler Museum, housed in a 75-room, 100,000 sq ft Gilded Age mansion; The Norton Museum of Art, with a permanent collection of more than 8,200 works; and, the 1916 Palm Beach County Court House and Johnson History Museum, operated by the Historical Society of Palm Beach County and designed to bring the city’s vivid history to life.
The Suite Life
Life is truly sweeter at the top. The hotel’s two penthouse suites – Park Suite and Palm Suite – are perched at the top of the hotel and offer private rooftop terraces ranging between 800- to 1,200 sq ft, ideal for intimate gatherings. Those looking to entertain will also appreciate the suites’ large living rooms and fully equipped kitchens. With views of Bradley Park, the Park Suite is a three-bedroom that expands into four, and the ocean-facing Palm Suite is a two-bedroom that expands into three. The onsite team is always on-hand to help plan the perfect event and make any celebration memorable.
