Parrot Cay

Ever wondered what a fashion designer’s house looks like? What chic oeuvres hang on the wall or what fabrics drape the couch? Get another peek into Donna Karan’s peaceful “Sanctuary” retreat on the private island of Parrot Cay in Turks & Caicos with the CFDA and Assouline’s new book this September, “American Fashion Designers at Home”. Her airy abode has large rooms decorated with objets d’art collected on her travels around the world (think Bali in the Caribbean). When the designer is away, The Sanctuary is available for rent, so guests can live like a couturier on vacation.

The coffee table book will be full of pictures of the homes of 115 of the CFDA’s members, including Elie Tahari’s SoHo terrace and Josie Natori’s Paris pied-à-terre. Get a glimpse into the lives of those who have crafted a favorite cocktail dress, or that pair of boots that were worn all winter. Read more on WWD.
