Breathe in…breathe out…breathe deeply. Thousands of yogis and yoginis around the world practiced their pranayama last weekend in celebration of the Global Mala Yoga for Peace Project. Founded by Shiva Rea, the project brings together the worldwide yoga community for two days of yogic celebration, spanning borders and yoga disciplines in honor of the United Nations International Day of Peace.
Here in New York City, AMPRers unleashed a sea of ujai and performed countless reps of urdhva mukha svanasana at exhale, where a group of nine instructors heralding from different practices and backgrounds guided nimble students through sun salutations A and B… 108 of them!

Talk about Pilates in paradise – from November 8-14, Parrot Cay will be hosting its first Pilates retreat conducted by the resort’s own Resident Teacher, Lynda Lippin. It was planned in response to a growing demand from guests who have had the opportunity to work with Lynda over the past year and a half. Offering 16 hours of Pilates classes over the five-day period, the retreat is an opportunity to address stress areas of the body under Lynda’s expert tutelage. She has been practicing Pilates for over 20 years and teaching for 18. She trained under Romana Krfzanowska, Kathy Grant, and Eve Gentry, among others. Lippin owned and operated award-winning Pilates studios in the US, trains new Pilates teachers for the Pilates Physical Mind® Institute, and is also an accomplished fitness trainer, certified by the American Council on Exercise®. vogue on summertime escapes
We all know that last-minute travel is trendy in 2009. Some of those who would normally book holidays six months out are waiting until the 11th hour to pick a spot, pack up, and go.
Vogue blogged about last-minute escapes this week. Not your run-of-the-mill weekend getaways but far-flung jaunts into worlds more exotic than our own, like Florence and Beirut.
